UCLA head coach Mick Cronin took matters into his own hands during Tuesday's 82-59 loss to No. 15 Michigan State. After center Steven Jamerson II committed a hard foul and received a technical, Cronin intervened before officials could eject him.

With about four minutes remaining, Jamerson fouled Michigan State's Carson Cooper on a breakaway dunk attempt, sending him awkwardly to the floor. Both players received technical fouls after the confrontation.

Seeing the incident with his team down nearly 30 points, Cronin called Jamerson to the bench, grabbed his jersey, and escorted him off the court toward the locker room. Jamerson offered little protest.

"I guess he upgraded that to a flagrant 2, huh? That's the first time I've saw a coach do that," Michigan State coach Tom Izzo remarked.

Jamerson finished with two points and two rebounds in eight minutes. Jeremy Fears led Michigan State with 16 points and 10 assists. Tyler Bilodeau led UCLA with 22 points in the loss, which dropped the Bruins to 17-9.

Cronin's status for UCLA's next game against No. 10 Illinois is now uncertain following the unprecedented self-ejection.
