The month of February is typically a quiet period in college football recruiting, falling between major visit windows in January and March. However, recruiting activity never fully stops, as evidenced by more than a dozen prospects decommitting last month. The headlines were dominated by two of the nation's top quarterbacks in the 2027 class. Syracuse also faced a difficult month, losing three of its top four commits after a strong start to the cycle.

Rivals.com provides an analysis of the most significant decommitments from February. Quarterback Peter Bourque, previously committed to Michigan, reopened his recruitment following coaching changes and is now hearing from Georgia, Penn State, and others. Fellow QB Luke Babin decommitted from Vanderbilt, with Oklahoma State now considered the favorite to secure his commitment after his impressive junior season.

Syracuse was hit particularly hard, losing safety Tristin Hughes, defensive lineman Stanley Montgomery, and athlete Davion Crumitie. Hughes and Montgomery are now considering offers from several Power Five programs, while Crumitie has over 20 new offers to evaluate. Other notable decommitments included prospects from Tennessee, Georgia, Kentucky, UCLA, and Texas Tech.
