Quarterback recruitment consistently generates the most buzz in college football. When a top-tier prospect commits, it captures the attention of both casual and dedicated fans alike. The Southeastern Conference (SEC) has consistently remained at the center of the sport's most high-profile pursuits, successfully signing at least one five-star quarterback in each of the last 13 cycles.

According to Rivals Industry Rankings, out of 81 quarterbacks who ranked among the top-100 overall prospects between 2017 and 2026, 31 chose to sign with SEC programs. This figure surpasses any other conference by a margin of 18 players.

Alabama: Keelon Russell (99.62)

A major recruiting victory for Kalen DeBoer, Russell flipped from SMU to Alabama in 2024. Following a stellar senior season at Duncanville (Texas), where he earned Gatorade National High School Football Player of the Year honors, he is currently involved in a fierce competition for the starting job in Tuscaloosa.


Arkansas: Malik Hornsby (91.95)

As part of Sam Pittman’s inaugural recruiting class, Hornsby arrived at Arkansas with significant hype as a dual-threat playmaker. After limited action in Fayetteville, he continued his college career at Texas State and Arkansas State.


Auburn: Deuce Knight (97.20)

Florida: DJ Lagway (99.23)

Lagway dominated his high school career in Texas before joining the Gators. Following a freshman season where he earned Freshman All-American honors, he eventually entered the portal and is set to play for Baylor.


Georgia: Justin Fields (99.67)

Fields remains the highest-rated quarterback to sign with an SEC team in the last ten years. After a season at Georgia, he transferred to Ohio State, where he became a Heisman finalist and a first-round NFL Draft pick.


Kentucky: Matt Ponatoski (91.26)

A dual-sport standout, Ponatoski committed to Kentucky to play both football and baseball. Despite being drafted by the Cincinnati Reds, he is currently on campus in Lexington preparing for the upcoming season.


LSU: Walker Howard (96.30)

A legacy recruit, Howard signed with LSU before embarking on a college journey that included stops at Ole Miss and Louisiana. He has since returned to Ole Miss for his final year of eligibility.


Mississippi State: Kamario Taylor (94.76)

Taylor stands as the highest-rated quarterback in Mississippi State history. As a freshman, the dual-threat playmaker saw significant action, and there is high anticipation for his development in his third year under Jeff Lebby.


Missouri: Matt Zollers (94.16)

After a highly competitive recruitment, Zollers chose Missouri over programs like Georgia and Penn State. He has since gained valuable experience as a backup in Columbia.


Oklahoma: Jackson Arnold (98.94)

A decorated prospect from Texas, Arnold spent his early career at Oklahoma before transferring to Auburn and eventually UNLV, where he looks to establish himself as a starter.


Ole Miss: Matt Corral (95.42)
