Expanding Lacrosse Coverage

Yahoo Sports has officially launched a new dedicated hub aimed at providing extensive news, analysis, and multimedia coverage for the sport of lacrosse. By partnering with Inside Lacrosse, one of the most prominent media entities in the field, the platform seeks to consolidate high-quality content for fans of all levels.

The new portal is accessible directly via the Yahoo Sports website and features contributions from a wide range of industry stakeholders, including:

  • The Premier Lacrosse League (PLL)
  • The Women’s Lacrosse League (WLL)
  • The Lacrosse Network (TLN)
  • USA Lacrosse Magazine

A Growing Sport on the Global Stage

The initiative arrives at a pivotal moment for the sport. Participation has seen massive growth, with the number of collegiate programs doubling since 2000 and high school engagement now spanning over 7,000 teams across the country. Interest is expected to surge further as the sport prepares for its highly anticipated return to the Olympic Games in two years, which will also mark the debut of women's lacrosse on the Olympic stage.

«Lacrosse is very clearly a sport on the rise, and with the 2028 Olympic Games approaching, lacrosse's momentum will only continue to build. We are excited to partner with Inside Lacrosse to deepen our coverage and give fans everything they need to follow this awesome, fast-paced, and fast-growing sport,» said Ryan Spoon, President of Yahoo Media Group.

Collaborative Media Ecosystem

The hub offers a mix of breaking news, in-depth features, game highlights, and video analysis covering high school, collegiate, and professional play. Executives involved in the project emphasize that this collaboration is about bringing specialized storytelling to a broader audience.

Terry Foy, CEO of Inside Lacrosse, noted: «As the sport sits on the precipice of this monumental moment, we're proud to continue serving the lifelong lacrosse fans and looking forward to introducing new fans to the sport.»

Paul Rabil, Co-Founder and President of the Premier Lacrosse League, highlighted the scale of the partnership, stating that bringing established voices to Yahoo Sports’ massive audience helps elevate the game's visibility. This hub joins other specialized sections on the Yahoo Sports platform, such as those dedicated to motorsports, golf, and soccer, reflecting a broader strategy to cater to specific fan communities through expert partnerships.
