Strengthening the Trojans' Future
After achieving their first top-ranked recruiting class in twenty years, the USC Trojans are demonstrating that their success was not a fluke. The team, which maintained a strong position throughout the 2026 cycle, is now aggressively pursuing top talent for 2027, successfully maintaining one of the strongest recruiting classes in the nation.
A Significant Recruiting Victory
The program received a substantial boost this past Saturday when four-star offensive tackle Drew Fielder announced his decision to flip his commitment from Oregon to USC. Having visited the USC campus multiple times recently, the local standout expressed a deep desire to remain in his home state and compete for the Trojans.
Regarding his transition from the Ducks to USC, Fielder shared his perspective:
«I really loved Oregon, this wasn’t anything against them. USC is the only school I would have de-committed for. This is a dream opportunity for me and one I just couldn’t pass up. Ever since I was a kid, USC was the dream for me. I’ve talked about it before, my dad went there and my grandfather and great uncle won a National Championship as well. Not many players get to live out their dream but I do so I’m obviously very excited right now.»
Strategic Impact and Current Outlook
Fielder’s addition serves as a key milestone in the Trojans' effort to secure elite in-state talent. With Fielder joining Quentin Hale, Honor Fa’alave-Johnson, and Danny Lang, USC has now secured commitments from four of the state’s top 14 rising seniors. Furthermore, recruiting analysts suggest the program remains a major contender for several other high-priority targets.
Under the leadership of Lincoln Riley, the coaching staff has focused on high-impact additions, including two top-100 defensive backs and two elite wide receivers. Despite having a relatively small number of total commitments, the caliber of the pledges positions USC firmly among the nation's premier recruiting programs for the current cycle.
