Aggies Secure High-Profile Commitment

The Texas A&M football program is aggressively pursuing the top recruiting class in the nation for the 2027 cycle. The Aggies recently achieved a significant milestone in the Mike Elko era by securing a pledge from five-star EDGE defender Zyron Forstall out of IMG Academy in Florida. Forstall, a native of New Orleans, selected the SEC program over a competitive list of offers, including USC, Notre Dame, Alabama, and Miami.

A pivotal multi-day spring visit to College Station proved instrumental in finalizing the commitment. Reflecting on his decision, Forstall shared his perspective with the media:

«I feel like I fit perfectly in Texas A&M’s defense. We went over a few defensive schemes that I really feel like I can play in that defense and dominate. It’s an SEC school, and it’s one of my dreams to play in the SEC.»

Reclaiming the Lead

With Forstall now on board, Texas A&M has overtaken Oklahoma to regain the number one spot in the Rivals Industry Team Recruiting Rankings. The program's current class consists of 11 total commitments, with 10 of those recruits holding blue-chip status. Given the Aggies' historic success on the recruiting trail in 2022, they are well-positioned to maintain this momentum heading into the winter.

Strength in the Secondary

Recruiting efforts led by Ishmael Aristide and his staff in the secondary continue to yield impressive results. During the first half of November, the team secured commitments from five-star safety Kamarui Dorsey (Georgia), four-star cornerback Raylaun Henry (Maryland), and four-star safety JayQuan Snell (Texas).

Dorsey, who earned his five-star ranking following his commitment, currently stands as the nation’s top-ranked safety and the 19th overall prospect. Along with Forstall, he serves as a cornerstone of the 2027 class. Prospects like Henry and Snell are also trending upward, currently ranked among the top 50 recruits in the nation, while three-star cornerback Hakim Frampton remains a key member of the group.

Focus on Defensive Dominance

The Aggies' recruiting strategy remains heavily focused on bolstering the defense. Of the 10 blue-chip players currently committed, seven are defensive assets. In addition to Forstall, who is ranked as the nation's No. 2 EDGE rusher, the class includes:

  • Myels Smith: A four-star defensive lineman from Los Angeles, continuing the program's successful expansion into California.
  • Elijah Patmon: A highly-regarded four-star defensive lineman from Georgia.
  • Kaden McCarty: A top-20 in-state prospect from Houston who has been committed to the program since December.
