Weather Disrupts Playoff Festivities
Just as spring weather appeared to have finally arrived in Colorado, a sudden shift in conditions has served as a stark reminder of the state’s fickle climate. This unexpected turn of events has forced the cancellation of a popular outdoor gathering organized for Colorado Avalanche fans.
Kroenke Sports & Entertainment confirmed that the “Avs Alley” watch party, which was slated to occur outside Ball Arena this Tuesday, has been called off. Although the event was free, it required prior ticket registration; however, the organizers decided to scrap the plans due to the worsening weather forecast across Denver.
Storm Forecast Impacts Denver Metro
According to regional meteorological reports, a robust spring storm system is moving through the area, bringing with it the threat of several inches of heavy, wet snow between Tuesday and Wednesday. These conditions are anticipated to cause significant disruption to local travel and make hosting outdoor activities unfeasible.
Playoff Momentum Continues Indoors
The cancellation is especially disappointing for fans given the current playoff excitement. The Avalanche are coming off a high-octane 9–6 victory against the Minnesota Wild in their series opener. While the outdoor viewing experience is off the table, the energy remains high for Game 2, which will proceed as scheduled inside Ball Arena.
Series Schedule Outlook
As the best-of-seven series progresses, the Avalanche aim to capitalize on their recent win. The upcoming schedule is as follows:
- Game 2: Minnesota at Colorado — Tuesday, May 5 at 6 p.m.
- Game 3: Colorado at Minnesota — Saturday, May 9 at 7 p.m.
- Game 4: Colorado at Minnesota — Monday, May 11 (Time TBD)
Potential remaining games:
- Game 5: Minnesota at Colorado — Wednesday, May 13
- Game 6: Colorado at Minnesota — Friday, May 15
- Game 7: Minnesota at Colorado — Sunday, May 17
Despite the cancellation of the outdoor event, the intensity surrounding the series is expected to remain high as Colorado fights to maintain its lead.
