Miami Marlins pitcher Sandy Alcantara voiced his displeasure with manager Clayton McCullough's decision to pull him from Tuesday's game against the Cincinnati Reds. Alcantara had pitched eight scoreless innings and was just three outs away from securing his second straight shutout when he was removed after allowing a double and a walk in the ninth.
The move backfired as the Reds tied the game against the bullpen and won 6-3 in extra innings. Alcantara later told reporters he felt he deserved to be consulted before being taken out, stating, "I think next time they have to make sure to ask me before taking me out of the game."
Despite the no-decision, Alcantara's start to the 2026 season has been dominant, with a 0.74 ERA over 24.1 innings. This resurgence comes after injury struggles and Tommy John surgery in 2023. His comments, following recent criticism of low attendance, raise questions about his future with the Marlins and could fuel trade speculation.
