Ronda Rousey and Gina Carano will take their final steps on Friday ahead of their Netflix superfight, as both legends step on the scale for the weigh-ins of this weekend's major card.
When Rousey, 39, and Carano, 44, weigh in, it will mark a combined 26 years since either of them last did so for an MMA fight.
Two separate weigh-ins are scheduled for Friday: official weigh-ins in the morning and ceremonial weigh-ins in the evening. Here’s what to expect from the events in Greater Los Angeles.
Official Weigh-Ins
Official weigh-ins begin at 12 p.m. ET and may last up to two hours. All 22 fighters on Saturday’s Rousey vs. Carano card are required to weigh in during this period.
The headliners, Rousey and Carano, must hit the non-title limit of 146 pounds for their featherweight bout. If either fighter exceeds this weight, they will be given an additional hour to cut the extra weight and try again. Missing the 146-pound mark again could result in fines and additional penalties depending on the severity of the miss.
After hitting their target weight at the official weigh-ins, fighters are allowed to rehydrate and regain weight until fight night.
Ceremonial Weigh-Ins
Ceremonial weigh-ins start at 9 p.m. ET and are essentially weigh-ins in name only. Since fighters have already met their target weights, these events mainly serve as a platform for opponents to have a final faceoff and build excitement for fight night in front of a potential packed crowd at the Intuit Dome Outdoor Plaza in Inglewood, California.
Rousey, Carano, and other fighters may also deliver their final pre-fight remarks here.
How to Watch
Uncrowned will provide live coverage of the official weigh-ins starting at 11:30 a.m. ET, including every fighter’s weight and video clips of Rousey, Carano, and other big MMA stars like Nate Diaz, former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou, and Mike Perry hitting the scales. Uncrowned will then stream live on-site video of the ceremonial weigh-ins at 9 p.m. ET. This post will be updated with links as Friday’s action unfolds.
