NBC has announced the hiring of Jason Benetti as its lead play-by-play announcer for Major League Baseball coverage. Benetti, currently the voice of the Detroit Tigers, will begin his new role on March 26 with the Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Arizona Diamondbacks game.

He will become the primary voice for "Sunday Night Baseball" on NBC, working with a rotation of local team analysts. Benetti brings extensive experience, having served as the Chicago White Sox's main TV announcer for eight years and working on national broadcasts for Fox since 2022.

This marks a return to NBC for Benetti, who led Olympic baseball coverage in 2020 and worked on Peacock's "Sunday Leadoff" games. NBC also revealed that former MLB stars Clayton Kershaw, Joey Votto, and Anthony Rizzo will be studio analysts from 2026, with Bob Costas as studio host.

The network recently secured a new MLB rights package, paying nearly $200 million annually for "Sunday Night Baseball," a "Sunday Leadoff" package, and playoff wild-card rounds, with many games streaming exclusively on Peacock.
