The Los Angeles Dodgers' new $69 million closer, Edwin Díaz, blew his first save opportunity of the 2026 season on Friday, but Max Muncy's historic three-homer performance secured a dramatic 8-7 walk-off win against the Texas Rangers.

Díaz, who had been perfect in four save chances, surrendered a three-run lead in the ninth inning. Pinch-hitter Joc Pederson singled and Evan Carter homered to cut the deficit to one run. After recording two outs, Díaz allowed the tying run to score on consecutive hits before striking out Corey Seager to escape further damage.

Max Muncy, who had already hit two solo home runs earlier in the game, delivered his third homer of the night—a walk-off shot off Jacob Latz—to bail out Díaz. It was the second three-homer game of Muncy's career, making him only the second Dodger ever with a three-homer game that included a walk-off.

Andy Pages provided crucial support, going 3-for-3 with a walk and a home run. Combined, Muncy and Pages went 7-for-8 with 7 runs, 7 RBI, and 4 homers, carrying the offense as no other Dodger recorded an extra-base hit.

The victory improved the Dodgers' MLB-best record to 10-3, showcasing the team's offensive depth even when its high-priced closer faltered.
