World No. 1 Jeeno Thitikul celebrated her 23rd birthday in spectacular fashion, shooting a nine-under 63 in the second round of the Honda LPGA Thailand in her home country. Her round featured seven birdies and an eagle, thrilling fans who serenaded her with "Happy Birthday" throughout the day.
"It's just really good memories that I have created with them on my birthday on the golf course again," said Thitikul, who tied her career-low round. The performance propelled her into a tie for second place, three shots behind leader Somi Lee.
Thitikul, the reigning Rolex Player of the Year, is now 14 under for the tournament. She will need to maintain her momentum to catch Lee and fend off challengers like Lydia Ko and Chizzy Iwai, who are four shots back.
"It feels great, and I have really good momentum from yesterday and carried it on to today," Thitikul added. Her impressive start to the season follows a stellar 2023 where she won three times, including the season-ending CME Group Tour Championship.
