According to reports from Brian McTaggart via MLB.com, the injury took place during pregame batting practice. Correa described the incident, stating that he “felt a pop” while taking swings in the batting cage, which caused him immediate pain and led to him falling to the ground.
Following a consultation with a foot specialist on Wednesday, it was confirmed that Correa suffered a torn tendon in his left ankle. To address the damage, the infielder will undergo surgery, effectively ending his season prematurely.
