Colts owner Carlie Irsay-Gordon states that quarterback Daniel Jones has earned the full confidence of his teammates, coaches, and the ownership. Irsay-Gordon emphasized that a major factor in awarding Jones a two-year, $88 million contract was his strong relationship with head coach Shane Steichen, calling them a perfect match—a dynamic not always present in Indianapolis.
"That chemistry that a quarterback needs to have with their head coach," Irsay-Gordon said. "I don’t want to name any names, but there are situations where your head coach doesn’t believe in your quarterback, I mean, you’re kind of screwed. I think Shane and Daniel really align." She added that Jones provides essential leadership, calling the quarterback "the CEO of our football team" and a key part of the team's identity.
According to the owner, Colts players were fully supportive of re-signing Jones. "The rest of the team wanted Daniel back, too," she noted, highlighting the importance of player input. Irsay-Gordon also expressed belief in Jones's determination to recover from a torn Achilles and prove himself as an elite quarterback, appreciating his work ethic and motivation.
