A New Milestone for an Indiana Icon

Caitlin Clark, the standout guard for the Indiana Fever, is set to take on a prestigious role at the upcoming 110th Indianapolis 500. Officials announced on Tuesday that Clark will serve as the grand marshal for the historic race, a decision that highlights her immense popularity both within the state and on the national stage.

Her selection for the role also aligns with her professional partnership with Gainbridge, which serves as the presenting sponsor for the event. In a press release regarding the appointment, Clark shared her enthusiasm for the upcoming opportunity:

«I’m looking forward to experiencing an iconic piece of what makes Indiana so special and being part of the time-honored tradition of ‘The Greatest Spectacle in Racing.’»

While there had been past speculations regarding Clark potentially driving the pace car, this position marks her official debut involvement with the legendary race.

The Pace Car Driver and Festive Atmosphere

Sharing the spotlight at the event will be Indiana football coach Curt Cignetti. Following his team's historic 16-0 season and subsequent College Football Playoff victory earlier this year, Cignetti was tapped to lead the pack in a Chevrolet Corvette before the race begins. Indianapolis Motor Speedway president Doug Boles praised the choice, noting that Cignetti’s leadership has been a major source of inspiration for the state.

The event will also feature additional celebrity involvement. Former NFL tight end Rob Gronkowski is slated to return to the speedway. Known for his work as a "Fox NFL Sunday" analyst, Gronkowski will reprise his role as the grand marshal for the "Snake Pit," an energetic EDM music festival located in the Turn 3 infield that runs throughout the duration of the race day.
