It didn’t take many games in the 2026 season for the four-time MVP to start putting on a show. Las Vegas Aces star A'ja Wilson kept making history Friday, putting up 45 points in a 101-94 win over the Connecticut Sun for a WNBA record fifth career 40-plus-point performance.

Wilson topped the mark she previously shared with Breanna Stewart and Diana Taurasi. Wilson's total Friday is the second highest of her career after her 53-point outing in 2023, becoming the first player in WNBA history to record multiple games with 45 or more points.

Wilson was pretty humble postgame about her display, saying she was “patient” in finding her shots. “When you're able to find shots within our system, and just letting the flow of the game take over, that’s big to me. I want to be efficient. It's beautiful to rack up all these points, like, oh my gosh, but to be efficient, that's what’s key,” Wilson said.

She was, in fact, incredibly efficient: Wilson went 15-of-18 from the field, including 2-for-2 from 3, and had 3 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 blocks. Wilson also went 13-for-13 at the line, which prompted teammate Chelsea Gray to give her a high-five at the press conference.

After the game, Aces head coach Becky Hammon was more clear in her praise for Wilson. “I mean, she’s unbelievable,” Hammon said. “The 3s, she just continues to sprinkle those in. She got a lot of early touches, got her going early, and then just rolling, just kind of riding her from there.” The win moves Las Vegas to 3-1, with the team concluding its four-game road trip against the Atlanta Dream on Sunday.
